Report was edited by Paola Materia, Serena Borgna and Gloria Peasso, Agency for the Promotion of European Research – APRE ‐ under the FP7 E‐Ural project.
The overall objective of this report is to assess Russian participation in the first five years of the Seventh Framework Programme (2007‐2013) for Research and Technological Development, the European Union's main instrument for funding research in Europe.
In the Fifth, Sixth and in the Seventh Framework Programme, to date, Russia has been the most successful, non-associated, third-country partner in the activities of the EU Research Framework Programmes, both in terms of the total number of participations and in terms of the total amount of financial contributions received from the EU.
In the current 7th Framework Programme (FP7) the involvement of Russian research groups continues to be strong. To date, following the conclusion of the first five years of calls for proposals, 568 Russian research organisations are involved in 352 main listed projects.
This study has been conducted with the aim of raising awareness of Russian participation in the FP7 and, in particular, in projects funded under the thematic area Environment of the Cooperation Programme.
