FINAL CONFERENCE - 21 October 2011, Brussels

The Final Conference of the FP7 Project E-URAL (European Union and RussiA Link for S&T co-operation in the area of the environment) was held on 21st of October 2011 at Chambord Hotel in Brussels (Belgium).

The conference aimed at presenting the results achieved by the project since its start in August 2009, and at discussing the opportunities for future cooperation between EU and Russian Federation in the field of environmental research. More than 40 participants from EU and Russia took part in the event, including researchers, experts and stakeholders involved in EU-Russia scientific cooperation (including National Contact Points), all E-URAL partners and the members of E-URAL Scientific Advisory Board. Participants were joined also by some members of the European Commission – DG Environment.

The event was opened by the introductory speech of Manuela Soares (Director of Environment Directorate, DG Research and Innovation). Then, the coordinator of E-URAL Project, Prof. Antonio Marcomini (University Ca’ Foscari Venice), illustrated the context and the motivations triggering E-URAL project and described EURAL consortium, the objectives and structure of the project, the expected outcomes and the strategies adopted to achieve them.
